Electric Cooperative’s automated outage reporting
system has worked extremely well for the cooperative. The
system gives the cooperative the capability to take many
outage calls at one time and process those calls much faster
than it could by taking calls in person. The system uses
Caller ID and if the cooperative has the member-consumers
telephone number on record, the computer instantly identifies
the account with all the information needed to dispatch
crews.
The cooperative understands most members don’t like
to call an automated system or talk to a machine, but this
is the only way we can process and analyze so many calls.
The speed at which it gives us outage information is a major
advantage. The system identifies the account that is out
of power instantly, giving the dispatcher all the vital
information needed, such as the substation, circuit, breaker
number, map number and address. With this system, there
are fewer busy signal, less waiting and faster restoration
of power.
The system relies on having the correct phone number for
each account. Please take the time to verify
or add the telephone number shown on the return bill stub
portion of your electric statement. You may
also call this information in during regular business hours.

from your home phone. This is the number we should have
on record for your account. Caller ID will identify
your location and your outage will be reported immediately. |
| Remember
to have one manual phone in your home. Most cordless
phones will not operate when the power is out. |

calling listen carefully to the message and follow instructions.

and you are calling from you home, our dispatcher will
have your information immediately. |
